	Nonlinear optical waveguides
Pulse propagation and distortion due to nonlinear effects. Exploiting and/or minimizing such effects. All- optical switching. Soliton propagation.
	Modal propagation in optical waveguides
Development of approximation methods. Theory of waveguides with controlled variability in direction of propagation. Special uses of such waveguides.
	Optical Signal Processing
Analogue signal processing of optical signals using waveguide-based components (active & passive) and networks.
