The School has an enviable research record built on a network of mutually beneficial partnerships with government and industry. It also has a reputation for innovation in teaching and learning, producing highly sought after graduates with an awareness of industrial productivity.
The Research Partners Program (RePP) encourages industry to liaise with a supervising academic and nominate a challenging thesis project to be done by students in the final year. Industry provides a modest financial sponsorship to attract leading students. The UNSW Co-op Program office manages RePP. An initiative of the School in 2005 saw the establishment of an Industry Advisory Board to provide continuous advice on curriculum content and on the relevance of our programs as well as input into School research priorities and collaborative linkages. This will create new opportunities for the School to identify research opportunities, produce graduates that meet current and future industry needs, ensure the best employment opportunities for our graduates and secure the supply of bright and motivated students. School Industry Advisory
Board members have been selected on the basis of the industry
sector they represent and their known commitment to high
quality scholarship and training. They are considered leaders
in their respective fields with a commitment Working more closely
with industry in 2006, we shall continue to develop a range
of undergraduate and postgraduate programs and activities
that keep us in touch with the industries we serve.
